SIX Left parties in Jharkhand have decided to stage protest demonstrations before the Governor House’s in Ranchi and at all district headquarters on July 20 on the issues affecting the people of the state including spiralling price rise, delay and non-supply of text books in government schools and privatisation of public health services.

At a meeting in Ranchi on July 6, leaders of the six parties -- CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML), Marxist Co-ordination Committee (MCC), RSP and SUCI(C) -- took serious note of the high-level corruption in BJP governments in various states as well as at the Centre. The parties demanded removal of and action against those involved in corruption and nepotism.

The Left parties will launch the joint mass campaign against the anti-people land ordinance, pro-corporate amendments in labour laws, and new mining and mineral ordinance brought in by the Centre, and the state government’s high-handed attacks on civil rights, police excesses and atrocities and domicile and employment policies.

The meeting also condoled the death of CPI(ML) leader Arun Pandey. The meeting condemned the brutal murder and demanded that the state government constitute an urgent enquiry to look into the case.

This meeting was attended by Gopikant Baksi, Rajendra Singh Munda, Prakash Viplav, Praful Linda and Sufal Mahato of CPI(M); Robin Samajpati, Siddheswar Singh of SUCI(C); Haldar Mahato and Sushanta Mukherjee of MCC; Ajay Singh of CPI; Radhakant Jha of RSP; and Janardan Pandey and Sukhdeo Prasad of CPI(ML).
