Resolution on Cuba
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which is meeting from 22-24 May in HKS Surjeet Bhawan, New Delhi, has unanimously adopted the following resolution against US threats to Cuba:
Cuba Is Not Alone – US Should Back Off From Cuba
We denounce the shocking and illegal indictment which the US Department of Justice has recently announced against the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz.
The charges put forth are based on lies and manipulation of the events surrounding the shooting down of the light aircraft belonging to the Miami-based terrorist organisation Brothers to the Rescue in 1996 in the Cuban airspace. The US Department of Justice is now activating this case from nearly 30 years ago against Raúl Castro, 94 years of age, one of the most respected leaders of the Cuban Revolution. This is a cynical political move without any legal basis and clearly stems from the inability of imperialism to break the will of the Cuban people who, despite tremendous suffering resulting from the recent intensification of the economic blockade, have rallied together in defence of their Revolution. Imperialism now wants to take recourse to a military intervention in the island, which will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe as the Cubans will defend their country at all costs.
US President Donald Trump has announced on 21st May that they have ‘Cuba on mind’ and intends to attack the island. The US is openly stating that it is against the socialist system in Cuba and hence interested in destabilisation and enforcing a regime change.
The CPI(M) strongly condemns the US imperialist threats on Cuba. We stand once again in firm solidarity with the people of Cuba and the leadership of the Cuban Revolution that has stayed steadfast and united in the most challenging times.
We call upon the people of India to express their indignation at this affront on former President and historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro and the attempts to launch an attack on Cuba.
Resolution on NEET
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which is meeting from 22-24 May in HKS Surjeet Bhawan, New Delhi, has unanimously adopted the following resolution on NEET:
Condemn Leakage of NEET Exam Paper Scrap NTA; Fix Accountability
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep concern and anguish over the repeated leakage of NEET exam papers conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Since its establishment in 2017, there have been at least four instances when leakages were exposed. There have been a host of problems with the conduct of exams through this central agency, apart from it being highly unequal and hostile. Apart from that, while institutional accountability is minimimal, as a Rajya Sabha Committee report pointed out in 2023, thousands of crores are being earned by the agency as revenue.
In the light of the above it is incumbent that the National Testing Agency (NTA) is scrapped and accountability is fixed for the current leakage of the NEET exam paper. The agency has lost credibility which cannot be redeemed with cosmetic changes. Conduct of examinations should be decentralised and handed back to relevant the government institutes.
The NTA Director’s claim that the NEET-UG 2026 paper was “not leaked through the system” is an effort to cover up and protect those responsible. Initial reports point to the political links of the accused with the ruling party. This should be thoroughly probed. The CPI(M) demands an impartial probe into the leak and a strong deterrent action on those responsible.
The nearly 22 lakh students affected by this leak are under huge psychological pressure and their families are facing big financial stress. In addition, the newly implemented On Screen Marking (OSM) by the CBSE for class 12 exams, is in a mess and will seriously affect the future of more than 17 lakh students. The Prime Minister and the Union Government are insensitive to their concerns.
CPI(M) stands in solidarity with the students and youth of the country and their sentiment, that the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has no right to continue. He should resign from office immediately.
