Inderjit Singh
National and international situation has taken a dramatic turn since the CPI(M) decided to hold the Jan Aakrosh rally on March 24, at Delhi. The rally was thought necessary to express deep-seated anger of the productive classes of our country who are reeling under the impact of a holistic, unprecedented crisis. The year 2026 also marks the centenary of the foundation of Naujawan Bharat Sabha, a revolutionary organisation of the Indian youth, striving for freedom of India from the yoke of British imperialism, and which declared its aim of a socialist system. A day before the Jan Aakrosh rally is also the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru who were executed on March 23, 1931. In the present phase of neocolonialism, imperialism is yet again seeking to forcibly take over the natural resources of developing countries for the sake of overcoming its inherent crisis of capitalism.

Anti-People Policies
The miseries suffered by farmers, industrial workers, ordinary employees, women, etc., have got further accentuated with the all out attacks on their livelihood and basic rights. Replacement of MGNREGA by a deceptive scheme named VB-GRAMG has rendered the rural poor without even some minimum guarantee for jobs. Other regressive legislations have also been enacted, like the most pernicious Labour Codes notified last November, Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, Seed Amendment Bill, apart from the intolerance to any dissent to the policies pursued by the authoritarian Modi government, truly characterised as corporate-communal ruling dispensation. The US-India Trade deal proved the last straw on the camel's back. The anger amongst the masses was glaringly witnessed during the historic February 12, all India strike called by Central Trade Unions in which 30 crore workers supported by farmers under SKM banner came on the streets. This was no less than a referendum against the misrule of Modi regime and the BJP ruled state governments.
Meanwhile, the war on Iran by the US-Israel evil axis has proved even more disastrous and horrific. People had already started feeling its inevitable impact in terms of anguish over 168 innocent schoolgirls killed in US bombings, scarcity of LPG and concern over the safety of over one crore Indians working in the gulf countries. Even more disgraceful and despicable is India aligning with the US-Israel war monsters in this attack on Iran.
In the given crucial situation CPI(M) has thought it necessary to organise a rally in the country's capital on March 24, in order to send a message to the government that it must reverse its policies and stop jeopardising the livelihood of people, and abandon the neo-liberal path that was creating the worst levels of disparity while mortgaging the sovereignty and time-tested foreign policy of non-alignment that India had been following all along.
Haryana state committee and district committees of the party planned preparations for mobilising more and more people for the rally and making the masses aware of the imperatives to organise and launch united struggle for the withdrawal of Labour Codes, Electricity Amendment Bill, Seed Bill and scrapping the US-India Trade deal, besides the outstanding local burning issues.
Disastrous BJP State Govt.
Let it be recalled here that the record of BJP rule in Haryana is a total disaster. Over 31 lakh acres of standing crops had been damaged in the unprecedented monsoon floods while the Haryana government accepted the damage as just for 1.20 lakh acres. Compensation even for this much damage remains to be disbursed. Fraudulent private companies are openly looting the farmers under PM Fasal Bima Yojana with active collusion of the bureaucracy and political patronage. BPL ration cards to the tune of lakhs have been deleted. Parivar Pehchan Patras are being tampered by inflating the family incomes aimed at denying their legitimate claim for various welfare schemes. About one lakh non-regular government employees are not being made permanent despite a High Court order to this effect. Government has permanently closed down the portal for the rightful benefits entitled to construction workers. Education and health are totally neglected. Unemployment and corruption in Haryana have crossed all records. Rice procurement scandal and IDFC Bank scam worth several crore rupees have rocked the state recently. With the collapse of law and order, hardcore criminals are ruling the roost while the common man lives in fear. Various sections of the people have been raising these burning issues, yet the government remains totally insensitive towards mitigating them.
Successful Jathas
Party state committee in this situation had chalked out a detailed programme of contacting and reaching out to maximum people with the help of two main Jan Aakrosh Jathas comprising of two sets of party state level leaders and two groups of theatre artists named 'Inqulabi Kala Manch' highlighting how the problems being confronted by the people were the essential fall out of the pro-corporate neoliberal policies which needed to be replaced by alternative pro-people policies.
One Jatha is led by Surender Malik and Jai Bhagwan with Savita, Rajender Chhokar, Sumit Dalal and others while the second Jatha led by state secretary Prem Chand and Inderjit Singh has Jagmati Sangwan, Sabita Malik and others. Concerned district leadership are also part of the Jathas in their respective programs. Posters, handbills, stickers containing the issues and demands are used during the campaign. Social media is proving very helpful in environment building for the effectiveness of the campaign.
In places where there are party branches and functional units of mass organisations, the response to the jathas was fairly good in terms of felicitation, size of gatherings and amount of funds collected for handing over to the leaders to meet the expenditure of the jatha. Arrangements for the stay and food are made in villages.
Till the publication of this report both the jathas would be covering a total of 90 meetings across all 23 districts of Haryana. According to the estimates of state committee a large number of people will take part in the Jan Aakrosh rally from Haryana.
