CITU Refutes False Allegation of Supplying Bangladeshi Labourers

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has refuted the false allegations of supplying labourers from Bangladesh to Koira Mining Circle in Sundergarh and Keonjhar District of Orissa for mining activities by Comrade Jahangir Ali, State Vice President of CITU Orissa State Committee.

This is a blatant conspiratorial lie perpetrated against the CITU by the BJP Government in the State. It is an attack against the leader of the mine workers who is fighting for the interests of the workers, particularly that of mine workers and specifically contract workers.

The letter dated 5th January 2026 by the Deputy Director of Mines, Koira to all the lessees/licensees under Koira Mining Circle to supply information and documents regarding engagement of labourers/Bangladeshi workers in mining and industrial activities by Comrade Jahangir Ali is part of the witch hunt unleashed by the BJP government at the centre in the name of ghuspaithiyas – infiltrators.  The state BJP governments in Orissa and elsewhere are utilising it against the Bengali speaking migrant workers from West Bengal working in their respective states by branding them as Bangladeshis or ghuspaithiyas to serve their communal divisive polarisation agenda.

The information sought by the police authorities is meant to tarnish the CITU with a false allegation. It is part of the conspiratorial agenda of the BJP government of Orissa targeting the trade union leader who is no way connected with the supply of labourers. The recent successful struggle of contract workers in the state led bythe CITU against their termination by the Adani firm as a Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) leading to continuance of the same contract workers is a root cause for this image tarnishing conspiracy. The BJP government in the state, a double engine sarkar of the corporate communal nexus in governance, is using such blame game tactics to weaken the working class movement of resistance and defiance led by the CITU.

CITU General Secretary Elamaram Kareem has called upon the workers and people at large of the state to understand and defeat the sinister blame game plan of the government to further its communal divisive polarisation efforts and to safeguard the interests of workers of the state.
