Ajit Nawale

A state camp of party secretaries of CPI(M) was held at Solapur from August 22-24, 2025. It was attended by 293 comrades, including 26 women, from 25 districts. The comrades comprised district, tehsil, town, and area Party secretaries and selected branch secretaries from each district. The first five districts were Solapur (75), Thane-Palghar (62), Ahilyanagar (25), Nanded (19) and Mumbai (15). The camp venue was named after Sitaram Yechury, the hall after V S Achuthanandan, and the stage after Lahanu Kom.

Two months earlier on June 14-15, a two-day Maharashtra state camp for party whole-timers was held in Mumbai. It was attended by 214 comrades, including 34 women, from 27 districts.

This camp began on August 22 morning at the site of the impressive newly-constructed colony of 30,000 houses for unorganised women workers, called Ray Nagar. It has been built with the initiative of the CPI(M), with amounts contributed by the women workers, and the state and central governments. Two-thirds of it is now ready, the remaining is in progress.

After the flag-hoisting by former state secretary and former Central Committee member Narasayya Adam and the floral tributes to martyrs, an enthusiastic rally marched to the camp venue where, after the condolence resolution, the introduction was by state secretary and Central Committee member Ajit Nawale and the brief inauguration by Narasayya Adam.

After the inaugural session, there were six sessions in the three-day camp, each was followed by a lively question-answer hour: political and ideological challenges before the working people's movement; building a scientific and rational outlook; principles of Party organisation and Party and mass organisations; importance of Party branches and tasks of branch secretaries; call of the 24th Party Congress and our major tasks and the last was an interactive session in which each district secretary reported on behalf of his/her delegation about the plan for activising the Party branches.

A 40-page booklet on the "Importance of Party Branches and Tasks of the Branch Secretaries", written by Ajit Nawale, was released during this camp. The souvenir of the last Party state conference held at Selu in Parbhani district was released by Prakash Karat, who had also attended that conference.

Subscriptions to the Central Party papers People's Democracy, Loklahar and The Marxist worth Rs 20,600 were collected, and Party and progressive literature worth Rs 21,150 was sold.

After the vote of thanks by state secretariat member Sunil Malusare and Narasayya Adam, all those who helped to make excellent arrangements for this camp, including state secretariat member M H Shaikh, state committee members Yusuf Shaikh Major (district secretary), Nalini Kalburgi, Naseema Shaikh, Anil Wasam, Datta Chavan, and all the volunteers were given a rousing felicitation. The cultural troupe Praja Natya Mandal from Solapur presented rousing songs which enlivened the camp.
