Rajasthan: CPI(M) Holds Protests on People’s Pressing Concerns

AT the call of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rajasthan state committee, protests were held across the state, at all district headquarters in Rajasthan on July 31, addressing public issues. Memorandums were submitted to the chief minister through the district collectors.

In districts like Sikar, Jaipur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Jhunjhunu, hundreds of people took to the streets to protest against the anti-people policies of the BJP-RSS government in the state. Amid the scorching heat, people are facing severe problems by the unannounced power cuts lasting several hours, especially in rural areas and poor urban neighbourhoods. The state government is continuously raising electricity rates, surcharges, and service fees, further exploiting the public.

Due to the lack of adequate drinking water supply, people in many areas are forced to rely on private water tanker suppliers, who charge exorbitant rates. Additionally, the government is moving towards the privatisation of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) by converting it into a corporation.

In the memorandum, the Party demanded the continuation and expansion of schemes like the Chiranjeevi Health Scheme, MNREGA, Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme, and Indira Rasoi. The law and order situation in the state is continuously deteriorating, with a significant increase in crimes against women, young girls, dalits, and adivasis. The Party also demanded concrete steps to curb these rising crimes.
