ON April 14, 2024, on the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the new CPI(M) office at Ulhasnagar in the Thane district of Maharashtra was inaugurated by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and AIKS president Ashok Dhawale.
A public meeting held on the occasion. Several Party members and sympathisers attended the inaugural programme. On this occasion, Ashok Dhawale felicitated the Party's Thane urban taluka secretary and district secretariat member P K Lali, who played an important role in setting up this new Party office.
Ashok Dhawale expressed happiness that the new Party office was being inaugurated on Ambedkar Jayanti. He explained the seminal and many-sided contributions of Dr Ambedkar to the country – mainly, his struggle against the varna and caste system and against the subjugation of women – in a word, the struggle against the Manusmruti; and being one of the main architects of the framing of India's Constitution, with sovereignty, democracy, secularism, federalism, and socio-economic justice as its pillars. He then concentrated on the grave challenge of the coming Lok Sabha elections. He castigated the anti-people, pro-corporate, communal, corrupt and authoritarian nature and policies of the Modi-led BJP-RSS central government, citing a number of examples. In order to defend the constitution, democracy, secularism, and the peoples' livelihood, he called for the smashing defeat of the BJP-RSS and their NDA allies, and for the resounding victory of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (INDIA Bloc) and the CPI(M) in these elections.
