Air India Crash Report: Why the Push for Pilot Error?

THE much awaited Preliminary Report (PR) of the investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the horrendous crash of Air India flight AI-171 at Ahmedabad on June 11 this year was finally released on July 11th night. This just met the one-month deadline norm set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO, normally pronounced eye-kay-oh).Besides other investigations, the PR is supposedly an initial assessment of clear and complete data downloaded from one of the aircraft’s two Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorders (EAFR) found in the wreckage.

Why is Trump Afraid of BRICS?

The 17th BRICS Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7, the first summit with the expanded membership of eleven countries. Soon after, US President Trump threatened to impose 10 per cent tariffs on those countries that align with BRICS. Earlier too, Trump had threatened 100 per cent tariffs on BRICS countries saying that they wish to destroy the supremacy of the US dollar and weaken America. Full Statehood Demand Stands Further Justified

SIX years back, on August 5, 2019, the Modi government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and Article 35 A. J&K was robbed of its right to statehood and divided into two union territories. The CPI(M) strongly opposed the unconstitutional, illegal and authoritarian moves. We said that it was not just an abrogation of the special status of a state, but an abrogation of democracy itself.

TN: CPI(M) Strengthens Tribal Struggles in Cuddalore

IT was in December 2021 that we visited the tribal community in Kothattai village, Parangipettai taluk, Cuddalore district. Enough is Enough

CRORES of working people hit the streets in the historic strike on July 9. Originally scheduled earlier, the strike had to be postponed by nearly a month and a half following the dastardly attack on innocent civilian tourists in Pahalgam. Yet, the spirit of resistance against the anti-worker policies forced upon the people remained undeterred.This fightback gained momentum when the government pushed through and enacted three key labour codes — the Industrial Relations (IR) Code, the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code, and the Social Security Code.
