HATE, THREAT & VIOLENCE: VHP Tries to Whip Up Communal Sentiments in Delhi

BARELY a day passes without reports about Muslims being attacked and forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in various parts of the country. In the first two weeks of July, over a dozen such cases were reported from different areas, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. As the ruling BJP refuses to act against right-wing goons creating havoc across the country, Muslims and Dalits are bearing the brunt.

Modi Govt’s Second Surgical Strike on Adivasis

WHILE the tsunami waves that hit the coasts of India in 2004 took some lives on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the adivasi population of Jarava, Onges adivasis that have inhabited the islands for thousands of years managed to walk safe out of the disaster. These adivasis have always been living a primitive life, with almost no contact with the outside world. While the whole world was astonished at their survival in face of the disaster, researchers have theorised that just like animals and birds, tribals too might have sensed the danger of tsunami beforehand.

Struggle against Anti-Peasant Policies

THE All India Kisan Council(AIKC) met at Hyderabad on July 12-14, 2019. It was the second meeting of AIKC after Hisar conference. After the 17th Lok Sabha elections and formation of second NDA government, this was the first meeting in the context of the massive defeat of the opposition parties especially, the Left. One hundred and seven members participated in the meeting and the discussion was enthusing.

Homage to Shameem Faizee

COMRADE Shameem Faizee, member of national secretariat of the CPI and editor of New Age, died on July 5, 2019 after an illness due to cancer. Faizee joined the CPI in 1965 in Nagpur and served the CPI in various journalistic capacities. He was the editor of Hayat, the Urdu journal of the CPI and was associated with various other Urdu publications. He was also the managing director of People’s Publishing House till his death.
