THE central executive committee (CEC) of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) met at the EMS Academy, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on March 29-30, 2015. The meeting, attended by 61 members from 18 states was presided over by its president Malini Bhattacharya.
YET another battle for defending democracy has started in West Bengal. In the ensuing elections to 91 municipalities and Kolkata Corporation, the ruling party has already launched a campaign of terror. As it has become a practice in West Bengal now in every election, the TMC initially targeted to capture as many municipalities as possible without contest. They have succeeded in Arambagh, Tarekeswar and Gayeshpur municipalities.
ON March 27, the Tripura Left Front Committee announced its list of candidates for the forthcoming elections of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), to be held in May. CPI(M) Tripura state secretary, Bijan Dhar released the list at a press conference. He was accompanied by CPI(M) state secretariat member Gautam Das, CPI leader Prashanta Kapali, RSP leader Dipak Deb and AIFB state secretary Shyamal Ray. Bijan Dhar said, like all other elections, the Left Front will fight this election unitedly.

HUNDREDS of activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held a militant protest demonstration in front of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in Shimla on March 31, 2015. Similar such protests were held throughout the state, right from Poanta Sahib in the eastern part of the state to Chamba and from Kinnaur to Una. Huge demonstrations were held in Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur, Solan,Nahan,Una, Kangra, Dharamshala, Baijnath, Joginder Nagar and several other Tehsil headquarters.
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 31, 201.THE appeal against the Allahabad High Court verdict acquitting top BJP and VHP leaders of criminal conspiracy in the demolition of the Babri Masjid is pending before the Supreme Court. The CBI had made the appeal nine months after the High Court verdict of May 2010. The CBI has been lax in pursuing the matter in the Supreme Court. The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the CBI pursue the appeal vigorously in the Supreme Court and not be influenced by extraneous cons

The draft analyses the international and national situation prevailing at present in order to formulate the current political-tactical line and the tasks to be undertaken by the Party.
AS we go to press, floods have, once again, begun their cruel devastation in the Kashmir valley. Soon its impact will be felt in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and neighbouring areas. J&K is yet to recover from the earlier devastation. The promised relief and rehabilitation has not yet even begun to reach the people in many parts of the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley.
THOUSANDS of farmers and workers observed the Bhagat Singh Martyrdom day on March 23 as Land Rights Day in Tamilnadu. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) held massive demonstrations in main city centres.As part of the national call against the Land Acquisition Bill, CITU led the protest in Chennai. CPI(M) state secretary G Ramakrishnan, CITU state general secretary G Sugumaran and AIDWA vice president U Vasuki and other leaders addressed the protest.In Thanjavur, various farmers organisations led by the AIKS and the AIAWU organised a protest-cum-pledge taking event.
