The Alternate Development Strategy in Kerala

IS it possible to have a regional alternative development strategy under the bourgeois-landlord federal state? The Left state governments in India have been prompted by such a positive vision and a successful case is that of Kerala.  Kerala has been able to provide its ordinary citizens the basic needs like education, health care, at least hutment land, housing, old-age social security and so on.  As a result, the quality of life of the people as proved by a number of human development indices is much above the national average.

Against Ratifying Paris Agreement on Climate Change

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 27, 2016.PRIME Minister Modi's announcement that India would ratify the Paris Agreement on Climate Change is both surprising and violative of the assurance that this BJP government had given to parliament.Soon after the Paris Summit, the parliament was assured that India would not ratify the Paris Agreement until the national laws relating to environment, forests and energy are examined in the light of their capacity to implement the various provisions of the Paris Agreement.

CPI(M) Delegation’s Eventful Bilateral Visit

The TPP and US Politics

CPI(M) Delegation Visits Greece

A TWO-member delegation consisting of Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) general secretary and Mridul De, Central Committee member  is on a four day visit from September 21, to Greece at the invitation of the Communist Party of Greece. THE constitution of India under Article 14 guarantees each and every individual irrespective of any caste, class or gender differentiation the right to equality. Unfortunately, under the aegis of the current ruling dispensation there have been repeated attempts to curtail this fundamental right in case of certain groups including dalits and other marginalised sections of the society. On Merger of Railway Budget

It was parliament which was empowered to discuss railway finances and development.The abolition of a separate railway budget is not what it is purported to be.
