CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 12, 2026

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has extended its wholehearted support to Kerala’s satyagraha and expressed solidarity with the LDF Government in its struggle in defence of its rights and against the centre's attack on federalism and denial of the state's rights. The struggle is also against the Union Government’s financial neglect towards the state.

NOW that five states are going to the polls for their respective state assemblies, it is necessary to see the big picture. This is also relevant from the standpoint of the republican Constitution that we have. It is necessary to rekindle the memory of our readers because, amid the din over Hindutva-driven sound bites, an atmosphere is being created that we are almost there – the Hindu Rashtra.

LOOKING at approval ratings of US presidents after their first year in office is an interesting exercise. Most presidents in recent years have net negative approval, with more than half of the population disapproving of their work as president. The exception is George W Bush after 9/11, when the US public rallied around the president after the shock of the attack and after his bellicose rhetoric to conduct a War on Terror around the planet.

Unable to curb the escalating violence between BJP and Tipra Motha followers ahead of the TTAADC election, and the exposure of several BJP workers being involved in serious crimes against women, narcotic trade and financial corruption, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha resorted to spreading a barrage of falsehoods, distortion of history and distasteful slander against CPI(M) and communist leaders, shamefully lowering the constitutional dignity of the office that he has been holding since 2022.

IN the traditional geography of power under bourgeois democracies, the distance between the ruler and the ruled is often measured by high walls, security cordons, and a deliberate, imposing silence. Across the capitalist world, and specifically within the administrative framework of the Indian sub-continent, Legislative Assemblies typically function as fortresses—exclusive zones where law-making remains insulated from the daily lived experiences and cultural vibrations of the citizenry.
