THE all India conference of the School Teachers Federation of India (STFI) held recently had strongly opposed the irrational changes made in school textbooks. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), which is entrusted with the responsibility of developing curricula and textbooks that uphold scientific temperament, historical accuracy, and the secular, pluralistic values enshrined in the Indian Constitution, has instead altered textbooks in line with the dictates of the RSS and the BJP government at the centre.
ON the 118th birth anniversary of the legendary Communist and Kisan heroine Godavari Parulekar, her statue was installed in the senior college at Talasari in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. The name of the college is Comrade Godavari Shamrao Parulekar College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college was started 31 years ago in 1994.
IN a breathtaking display of doublespeak, RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat devoted three days (August 26-28, 2025) to painting his organisation with a nationalist, liberal, inclusive and serene outlook that only wants India to lead the whole humanity into an era of peace and prosperity. THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the speech made by RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. His remarks reflect the RSS’s disregard for the Indian Constitution and are in violation of the law of the land.
THE Party Media In-Charges’ meeting was held in New Delhi on August 26-27, 2025 at HKS Surjeet Bhawan. The meeting began at 10:45 am on August 26 and was focused on strengthening the Party’s media work. Spread over two days, the discussions were organised in two sessions.
OVERWHELMING concern on growth metrics often tend to undermine issues related to wellbeing. Human wellbeing is not directly linked to growth and Prof Amartya Sen argued long back that rising per capita income is not sufficient to ensure augmenting human capabilities. Growth might increase the inputs necessary to sustain a level of welfare, but the outcomes of growth are not automatically welfare enhancing.

THOUGH delayed, the approval by the state cabinet of the Jharkhand State Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission Functions and Responsibilities Rules, 2025 for the formation of a Displacement Commission to safeguard the rights of the displaced, is indeed a positive initiative. The CPI(M) state secretariat, in a statement issued on September 3, has welcomed this move of the Hemant Soren led state government.
