KC(M) Split Gives UDF Seat-Sharing Talks a Jolt

KERALA will go to assembly polls on May 16, along with Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Major coalitions in the state LDF and UDF have started seat-sharing discussions. A vertical split in the Kerala Congress (Mani), the second largest constituent of UDF, gives an advantage to Left Democratic Front (LDF). Francis George, former MP and son of KC(M) founder K M George, former MLAs Antony Raju and K C Joseph and many district level leaders left the parent party and formed a new outfit, Kerala Congress (Democratic).

Nuclear Safety Compromised

THE leakage of heavy water in the unit one of the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS-1) has once again raised fears about the safety and reliability of the nuclear power plants in the country. As per the sketchy reports emanating, there was a moderately large leakage of heavy water in Kakrapar on March 11, 2016. The power plant has been shut down and inspection is on by the scientists from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) to assess the nature and seriousness of the accident and to ensure that the safety of the plant is assured.

Modiji ki Dalit Prem Katha Full of Symbolism – Zero in Substance

THE BJP government is these days on an overdrive. Acting, it appears is rubbing on the entire party leaders. The difference between professional actors and professional politicians is more or less non-existent in the Party, with all of them showcasing their acting skills on the 'big stage'. Of course, for the prime minister, the world is a stage. He can perform anywhere. Remember, the dramatic entrance to the parliament? And the occasional choking of the voice and wiping of tears, particularly when he talks about the children of 'Bharat mata'.

The IS threat to Global Security

FINALLY, it was the latest terror attack on Paris that may galvanise the international community into taking concerted and coordinated action against the threat being posed by the Islamic State (IS). The French President Francois Hollande has called for the formation of a “large alliance” to “decisively” take on the IS. President Hollande has not invoked Article 5 of the NATO alliance treaty which would have obligated all alliance members to militarily help France. This would have meant involvement of countries like Turkey which are playing a dubious role in the conflict in Syria.
