HP: CPI(M) State Conference Calls for Unity for the Greater Struggle

THE 18th State Conference of the Himachal state committee of the CPI(M) was held in Shimla from November 28-30, 2024. The conference began with a protest rally that focused on critical issues, including rising inflation, unemployment, and the unfulfilled promises of the central and state governments.The main speakers at the rally included Polit Bureau members Tapan Sen, Vijayaraghavan, and Subhashini Ali, along with CPI(M) state committee members Rakesh Singha, Kushal Bhardwaj, and Vijender Mehra.

Defining Socialism

HEARING a petition on November 22 to remove the term “socialism” from the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, the Chief Justice of India made two significant observations: first,  the term “socialism” in the Preamble of the Constitution is used not in any doctrinaire sense but refers rather to a welfare state that ensures equality of opportunity for all citizens; and second, “socialism” in this sense is part of the basic structure of the Constitution; it is not just an add-on to the Preamble but rather something that permeates the very essence of what we want the Indian republic to be.The

Delhi: CPI(M) State Conference Resolves to Build Mass Struggles

THE three day (November 22-24, 2024) Delhi state conference of the CPI(M) held at HKS Surjeet Bhavan started with the senior-most comrade Jagdish Chand Sharma unfurling the Party flag. The condolence resolution was moved by Brijesh Kumar Singh. The inaugural session was addressed by Prakash Karat, coordinator, Polit Bureau. He said the successful conduct of the Party conferences and Congress would be the best tribute to Comrade Sitaram Yecchury.

LONG before assuming the role of the Party's general secretary, Comrade Sitaram Yechury's insightful writings in Bengali translation had been the pages of the Marxbadi path, the CPI(M) West Bengal state committee's theoretical quarterly. His insightful writings, translated into Bengali, have frequently graced its pages, starting with "Mao Zedong’s Revolutionary Initiatives" in February 1994.

Despite the inclement weather brought on by Storm Bert, scores of delegates from across Britain gathered with a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity to discuss pressing issues and reaffirm the IWA's commitment to supporting the working class, migrants, and global justice. 

Ensure Safety of Minorities in Bangladesh

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on November 28THE situation of the Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh is continuing to cause concern.  Various incidents have occurred that threaten their safety and security. At a time when fundamentalist forces are active to create a communal divide, the Bangladesh authorities are yet to take firm steps to curb communal attacks.

A Young and Vibrant Second Congress of CPK

THE Second Congress of the Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) was held on November 16-17, 2024 in Nairobi. 126 delegates from all the 47 counties in Kenya participated in the Congress, showcasing the presence of CPK all over the country. 54 messages were received from fraternal parties and organisations. The presence of CPI(M) in the Congress was highly appreciated.The Congress is taking place immediately after the widespread Gen Z uprising that took shook the Kenyan political establishment.

No Corporate Exploitation, Protect People’s Livelihood: Worker-Farmer Joint Protest

WORKERS and farmers across India joined hands on November 26, 2024, to express their anger against the assault on their livelihoods and to resolutely oppose the corporate-driven policies of the NDA-3 government. The date marked the fourth anniversary of the historic General Strike by workers and the Delhi March by farmers in 2020. These collective actions had forced the NDA-2 government to repeal the three farm laws aimed at corporatising agriculture. Notably, November 26 also commemorates the day the Constitution of India was adopted in 1949.
