Profit out of Pain and the Rising Inequality

A widely publicized exercise based on national private consumption expenditure data from National Accounts Statistics (NAS) claims that inequality and poverty have declined in India. NAS consumption expenditure data is derived as a residual measure net of other macro aggregates.

CYCLONE and monsoon rain between July 5-15 led to heavy precipitation. More than 44 per cent than normal rainfall was recorded during this period, particularly in the catchment area of Godavari. There was a heavy loss in the districts of Bhadrachalam, Khammam, Adilabad, Warangal, Nizamabad and Karimnagar.Just a month had passed by since the Kharif crop was sown. The seedlings have been damaged. Nearly 11 lakh acres of the sown area have been damaged. Main crops include cotton, rice, soya, pulses, jowar, and oilseed crops. Eight people died so far because of heavy rains.

Panchjanya, which is a weekly newspaper of the RSS held a conference on sustainability in Hotel Le Meridien, Delhi. Something which was not even imagined a few years back, the paper has spent lavish money to hold such a conference. This hoarding still hangs on the walls despite the fact that the event was held a month ago.

Municipal elections: Shivraj Sarkar getting Surgery for Severed Nose

Female Student Asked to Remove Innerwear at NEET Centre, Protests Erupt

PROTESTS erupted in the Kollam district of Kerala as the authorities forced a 17-year-old girl student, appearing for the NEET examination to remove her innerwear. The incident occurred on July 17. The examination was held at the Marthoma Institute of Information and Technology, in Aayoor.
