Assam: CPI(M) Holds Convention to Discuss Issues of People Living in Low-lying Riverbanks

CPI(M) Assam state committee organised a state-level 'Char-Chapori' Convention at Mandia in Barpeta district. Hundreds of people from different Char Chapori areas participated in the convention. A char is a floating island while chaporis are low-lying flood-prone riverbanks. The 'Char Chapori' areas of Assam are populated mainly by Muslim minorities.
