Tripura: CPI(M) Recalls Emergency Horrors, Exposes BJP-RSS Duplicity

ON the 50th anniversary of the Internal Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975, the CPI(M) in Tripura organised hall meetings and discussions across various sub-divisions to reflect on the horrors of authoritarian rule.A major programme was held at Agartala Town Hall on June 26, 2025, drawing a packed audience. It was addressed by Party senior leader Manik Sarkar, state secretary and Polit Bureau member Jitendra Chaudhury, and West Tripura district secretary Ratan Das.

SFI Conference Calls to Defend Education

THE 18th All India Conference of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) was held in Kozhikode, Kerala, from June 27-30, 2025. From the time the conference was decided to be held in Kerala, the SFI Kerala state committee launched a series of activities to spread the message of the conference and mobilise support. SFI activists visited over 25,000 homes across Kozhikode, bringing the message of the conference to the people.

Calcutta HC Orders MGNREGA Resumption in Bengal

IN a landmark judgment, the Calcutta High Court has ordered the central government to resume the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme in West Bengal by August 1, 2025. Delivered on June 18 by Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and Justice Chaitali Chattopadhyay Das, the ruling ends a three-year freeze on the scheme, citing the urgency of restoring rural employment while addressing corruption concerns.

THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly denounces the proposal made by the RSS general secretary to remove the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ from the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. This proposal exposes the RSS’s long-standing objective of subverting the Constitution and its intent to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra, in pursuit of its Hindutva project.

This is yet another attempt by the BJP-led central government to benefit corporates at the cost of workers.
