THE All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), in a statement issued on July 3, has expressed deep concern and dismay at the punishment of five months imprisonment and a Rs 10 lakh fine against Medha Patkar in a defamation case filed by the present Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena.

THE All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) is shocked and outraged by the devastating stampede that occurred on July 2 in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, during a Satsang conducted by self-styled godman Narayan Saakar Vishwa Hari, also known as Bhole Baba. Nearly 121 people, mostly women, lost their lives in this tragedy. The number of injured is still unknown.In a statement issued on July 4, AIDWA said this incident starkly highlights the negligence of the Yogi government, which failed to ensure the safety and well-being of the people.

THE results of the 18th Lok Sabha elections on June 4, 2024 proved that the people voted in favour of saving the constitution and democracy and curbed the dictatorship of the BJP and the Modi government.  BJP, which had set a target of crossing 400, got 240 seats only. BJP lost 63 seats compared to the 2019 elections. It could not reach the majority to form the government on its own. However, NDA secured a majority with 293 seats and the NDA government came to power at the centre for the third time under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
