GUJARAT: CPI(M) State Workshop to Work for Success of All India Strike

A DAY after the CPI(M) Gujarat state committee meeting on December 8, a Party state workshop was held in Ahmedabad on December 9 to give a boost to mass front work in the state. It was attended by 67 state office-bearers and other main activists working on the trade union, kisan, women, youth, student and lawyers’ fronts from 14 of the 16 districts where the Party exists. It was the first time that such a workshop was being held in Gujarat.IMPORTANT ACTIONSThis workshop was being held in the background of some important actions led by the mass fronts in Gujarat.

NPRD Observes International Day for Disabled Persons

LENIN Sarani in Kolkata has been a witness to many hues of gatherings, but on December 3, the occasion of international day for disabled persons, it had witnessed a procession which had not been seen in the city for a long time. As the wave of yellow surged towards its destination, the bustling metropolis came to a standstill to take note of the faces of the participants.The spirit of the procession was succinctly embodied by the action of an anonymous participant. While marching forward, his crutch gave way and he fell down on the dusty thoroughfare.

Bicentenary of Lewis Morgan’s Birth

LEWIS Morgan, who had made great contributions to the study of the evolution of human race and social changes, was born in 1818, the same year in which Karl Marx was born.Morgan laid down the foundational principles for the study of man’s progress from primates to human beings through evolutionary stages, involving various types of social structures, including the institutions of marriage and family.

KERALA: ‘Women Wall’ on New Year Day

KERALA will form ‘Vanitha Mathil’ (Women Wall) on January 1, 2019. This will be formed by over 176 renaissance organisations of Kerala. The ‘women wall’ will be formed from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, which is a distance of over 600 km.  A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting which was chaired by the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan. This decision was taken in the backdrop of violence unleashed by the Sangh Parivar outfits after the decision of the Supreme Court to allow women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple.

Telangana Election Campaign Concludes

THE Telangana assembly elections are being held on December 7. The Bahujan Left Front (BLF) of which the CPI(M) is also a constituent is contesting all 119 seats in the state. The CPI(M) is contesting in 26 assembly constituencies.CPI(M) leaders including Sitaram Yechury, Manik Sarkar, Brinda Karat, BV Raghavulu and K Hemalata participated in the election campaign and addressed a large number of public meetings.Sitaram Yechury spoke in public meetings held in Mahbubabad, Wyra, Bonakallu, Miryalaguda, Chowtuppal and Ibrahimpatnam.

CPI(M) Greets RSP National Conference

SITARAM Yechury greeted the 21st national conference of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) at New Delhi on December 1.He said that the crisis of global capitalism continues to prove that the answers for human emancipation have to be found outside the framework of capitalism. It is only socialism that can lead the path to human emancipation.The global crisis is also fuelling the rise and growth of large scale discontentment amongst the people who get affected by severe economic hardships.

Bulandshahr Violence Condemned

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on December 4, 2018THE Polit Bureau strongly condemns the brutal killing of police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh by a mob in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. Along with him an innocent bystander was also shot dead.The sudden eruption of violent protests took place on the pretext of cow slaughter due to carcasses found in dubious circumstances in a village in Siana area.
