It is reported that Awasthi was ill and depressed after being dismissed from Dainik Jagran where he had worked for many years. He was under severe financial strain and reportedly took his life by swallowing 'sulphas' tablets.

This decision was taken on May 22, 2026, in a board meeting chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. This marks the largest surplus profit transfer in history. While the media used to give massive coverage to such large transfers by the Reserve Bank in the past, that was missing this time.

Vicious Cycle of Low productivity and Low Wages

ECONOMIC growth in the long run depends on the growth of productivity. Productivity is measured with respect to inputs used, that is labour, capital and energy, and in terms of the efficient use of the combination of these inputs. The growth of the economy or the per capita income depends on the growth of labour productivity and the growth of employment. Labour productivity implies value added per worker and is sometimes measured in terms of value added per hour of labour worked.

Bolivia at the Crossroads: Crisis, Division, and the Return of Imperialist Ambition

Bolivia faces a dangerous convergence of economic difficulties, political fragmentation, and renewed imperialist intervention. The immediate crisis is visible in fuel shortages, inflationary pressures, currency instability, and growing public frustration. The stated occasion was the 150th anniversary of legendary hero Birsa Munda. In the vote of thanks, organisers acknowledged the extensive official machinery behind the gathering — from the Railway Ministry to Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and senior officials. With Home Minister Amit Shah as Chief Guest, the event was effectively semi-official.

Jaisalmer Cattle Carcasses and the Stink of Cow Politics

NOTHING could have so starkly laid bare the real face of cow politics of BJP than the horrific view of hundreds of cattle carcasses lying abandoned in open just a few kilometres away from the famous city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The scary video footage highlighted by the media on May 26 has outraged the feelings of people regarding the safety of animals when the state BJP government had been making tall claims of making elaborate systems for service of the sacred ‘Gaumata’.
