JULY 8, 2014 marks the culmination of the birth centenary year of Comrade Jyoti Basu, one of the most outstanding leaders of the Left movement in India, the longest-serving chief minister in the country who led West Bengal for nearly a quarter century, and the last of the CPI(M) Navaratnas. These Navaratnas – and innumerable other veteran Communist leaders of that generation – made immense contributions and untold sacrifices during extremely difficult times for the building of the CPI(M) and the Left movement in India.

CPI(M) Condemns the Taoru Incident

THE CPI(M) has condemned the incidents of communal violence perpetrated on June 22 in Taoru town of Mewat district following a road accident in which a youth was killed. THE decision of the Modi government to use only Hindi language as the sole medium of communication for government information on social media is against the principle of linguistic equality and is an injustice to other national languages.
The government should modify its policy and use along with Hindi other national languages as well as English for communication in social media.
