‘Bus Yatra’ Demanding Development of Rayalaseema

THE Left parties are the real alternative before our country and various demands of the people have to be realised through struggles, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said at the culmination of a ‘Bus Yatra’, by Left parties demanding development of Rayalaseema districts, at Kurnool on March 5.The ‘bus yatra’ started in Chittoor on February 20 and traversed through Kadapa and Anantapur before ending with a public rally in Kurnool on March 5.

Thinking Together

Q: In the 'Origin of Family, Private Property and the State', Engels argued that love or marital relationship between individuals must be completely their private affair and just as in primitive communism, in future communist society also, it should be possible to easily end a relationship from either side and without the interference of public courts. After the Russian revolution, Lenin said that henceforth the so-called 'legitimate' and 'illegitimate' children would be equal. In western world today, being formal partners, ie, live-in relationship has become very common.

Nuclear Safety Compromised

THE leakage of heavy water in the unit one of the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS-1) has once again raised fears about the safety and reliability of the nuclear power plants in the country. As per the sketchy reports emanating, there was a moderately large leakage of heavy water in Kakrapar on March 11, 2016. The power plant has been shut down and inspection is on by the scientists from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) to assess the nature and seriousness of the accident and to ensure that the safety of the plant is assured.
