J&K Power Employees Organise Protests

THE Electricity Employees Federation of India (EEFI) congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees and Workers United Front (JKPEWUF) for organising a 48-hour strike programme on September 25 and 26. JKPEWUF, a joint platform of all trade unions in the Power Development Department (PDD) in J&K, represents a workforce of 21,000 people.Engineers and employees of the Power Development Department have faced significant economic hardships in recent months due to unexpected delays and irregularities in receiving salaries from the government.

CWFI Demands Probe into the Tragic Death of Construction Workers in Aizawl

THE Construction Workers’ Federation of India (CWFI), in a statement issued on August 23, has deeply condoled the tragic death of 23 construction workers when an under-construction railway bridge collapsed at Sairang, near Aizawl, capital of Mizoram on August 23, 2023.The railway bridge that collapsed at around 10.00 am was a part of the Bhairabi Sairang New Line Mizoram Railway Project, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). It was being constructed over the Kurung River and is positioned between the Bairabi and Sairang railway stations.
