Slums, Poor Localities Struggle to Resume Normal Life in Michaung-hit Tamil Nadu

A WEEK has passed since floods were triggered by Cyclone Michaung, yet specific localities in Chennai and its neighbouring districts are struggling to return to normalcy. Most people living in apartments and middle-class localities returned to work a day or two after the floods. But slum-dwellers and those living in slum resettlement colonies are worst affected.

ON December 9, 2023, the dharna movement at the foot of the Gandhi statue in Esplanade, Kolkata marked its 1000th day. This protest is held by the deserving candidates who had successfully cleared the West Bengal State Level Selection Test (SLST) for secondary and higher secondary school teaching positions. Nearly three years have transpired since the inception of this movement.

HP: All India Lawyers Union Holds State Conference

THE fourth state conference of the All India Lawyers Union (AILU), organised by the Himachal Pradesh state committee, convened at Kurian Hall, HP High Court, Shimla on December 10, 2023. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony and a floral tribute to Shahid Bhagat Singh and Dr B R Ambedkar, led by national general secretary P V Surendranath, senior advocate, followed by all delegates.

Maha: Peasants and Workers Hit the Streets in SKM-CTUs November Struggle

OVER 65,000 peasants and workers in 25 districts of Maharashtra hit the streets from November 26-28, 2023, as part of the all India struggle call given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Central Trade Unions (CTUs). The actions included mahapadavs, rallies, marches, dharnas and demonstrations at numerous district and tehsil centres in the state.
