Irregularities in Medical Seat AllotmentA MAJOR irregularity surfaced in the seat allotment in the MBBS courses of the two medical colleges. At least nine students who had not fulfilled the state domicile criteria were allotted seats though their name was not present in the state domicile list prepared by CBSE Neet. After the issue came to surface, the director of medical education was forced to declare that these nine were not eligible to get the letter of nomination for admission on July 7.

KERALA: Prime Accused Arrested in Abhimanyu Murder Case

THE prime accused in Abhimanyu murder case was arrested on July 18, by the Kerala police. Maharaja’s college unit president of Campus Front of India and third year BA Arabic history student Muhammad was arrested from Kerala-Karnataka border. Four others, who helped Muhammad to get shelter somewhere in Goa have also been arrested.The police said that the conspiracy to kill leaders of SFI including Abhimanyu in Eranakulam Maharaja's college was hatched and the gruesome murder was executed by Muhammad. He had asked other accomplices to reach the college on the intervening night of June 30.

HARYANA: CPI(M) Holds Jan Sandesh Yatra for Alternate Policies

EXPOSING the Jhoot-Phoot and Loot (lies-schism and loot) governance of the BJP and aiming to bring a change on the basis of pro-people policies, the CPI(M) has started a state-wide campaign. From July 20 to August 21, mass meetings will be held in 69 villages and towns of the state. Two teams have been formed under the leadership of Surender Malik and Inderjeet Singh to participate in these meetings.Meetings are being held at the branch level to ensure that not just Party members but even sympathizers are activated during this campaign.

CPI(M) to Unleash Peasant Movement in Bihar

AMIDST heating up state politics ahead of the 2019 general elections, the CPI(M) state committee has met on July 5-6 in Patna to formulate the Party’s further course of action with an aim of pooling the anti-BJP votes. Prior to this, three major Left parties, CPI(M), CPI and CPI (ML) met on July 2 and announced that they would work to defeat the BJP. The CPI(M) is firm on taking a final call in accordance with its 22nd Congress’ political line and has resolved to chalk out a detailed programme to unleash a powerful peasant movement in Bihar.

WEST BENGAL: CPI(M) will Build up Sustained Movements

THE CPI(M) has decided to take up people’s issues and build up sustained movement in West Bengal. A schedule of protracted struggles has been charted out at the Party state committee meeting on July 12-13.The people of West Bengal are suffering from multi-dimensional attacks on their life and livelihood. Apart from the ongoing attack on democratic rights, destruction of all democratic bodies, the regime of loot has gone berserk. The latest example is that of admissions to colleges, where the seats are being sold in exchange of exorbitant amounts overriding the merit list.

Protest against Modi’s Visit

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi visited West Bengal to address a BJP rally in Midnapore town. The rally was designated as Kisan Kalyan Sabha. As a protest to Modi government’s anti-farmer policies and false promises, AIKS and other mass organisations staged street protests on two days. Before Modi arrived in the state, effigies were burnt, street corner meetings were held throughout the state. On July 16, Modi came to Midnapore. His route was not publicly declared fearing protests.

ANDHRA PRADESH: CPI(M) and CPI Hold Conventions to Build Political Alternative

STATE level conventions on the issues of working class, dalits and on urban issues were held in Andhra Pradesh on July 13, 14 and 15. With the joint efforts of CPI(M) and CPI to bring forth a ‘political alternative’ in AP, these conventions were the first three in the series. Both the parties have decided to conduct state level conventions of different classes and social sections on their respective issues and to mobilise people towards a ‘political alternative’ that differs from TDP, YSRCP, BJP and the Congress.

It is the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order. But the fact that the government here is failing to do so is clear from the incidents of mob lynching on the rumour of child lifting and organ trafficking that was spread by a minister of the government which has caused this violence and mass hysteria. RSS and BJP are patronising this atmosphere of violence and terror.
