The governor has violated the eligibility conditions for nominations under the students constituency and had rejected the nominations recommended by the university.

Slums, Poor Localities Struggle to Resume Normal Life in Michaung-hit Tamil Nadu

A WEEK has passed since floods were triggered by Cyclone Michaung, yet specific localities in Chennai and its neighbouring districts are struggling to return to normalcy. Most people living in apartments and middle-class localities returned to work a day or two after the floods. But slum-dwellers and those living in slum resettlement colonies are worst affected.Youth organisations, civil society groups, fan clubs and political parties mobilised funds to provide ration in some of the affected localities. They provided dry ration, clean water, medical supplies and toiletries.

Light at the End of Tunnel: Rescuers of Silkyara Felicitated in Delhi

THE joint trade unions platform in Delhi felicitated the 12 rat hole miners who valiantly rescued 41 construction workers from the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The meeting started by honouring the 12 workers with a souvenir and a citation from the joint trade unions. In a memorandum to the labour ministry of the Delhi government, the trade unions demanded that all 12 of them be given Rs 10 lakhs given their hazardous working conditions and present livelihood.

WB: Massive Three-Day Worker-Peasant Dharna in Kolkata

OVER 65,000 peasants and workers in 25 districts of Maharashtra hit the streets from November 26-28, 2023, as part of the all India struggle call given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Central Trade Unions (CTUs). The actions included mahapadavs, rallies, marches, dharnas and demonstrations at numerous district and tehsil centres in the state.FIRST JOINT STATEWIDE MEETINGA successful joint meeting of the Maharashtra chapters of the SKM and the CTUs was held at the S M Joshi Socialist Foundation at Pune on October 15.
