Public opinion is growing increasingly against the Trinamool regime's actions, which are detrimental to the education sector and which deprive the poor people of their entitlements by embezzling funds from rural development projects. The successive revelation of various scams serves to highlight the extensive corruption that permeates all levels of the government. Despite the reluctance of the state police administration to take appropriate action, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have initiated investigations as ordered by the court.

RECENTLY, the screening of the film 'The Kerala Story' has made headlines. The film's trailer claimed to explore the religious conversion to Islam in Kerala and the alleged recruitment of converts by IS, an Islamist military organisation. According to the trailer, 32,000 women were converted to Islam under the guise of 'love Jihad.' This sparked significant controversy within Kerala, with people vehemently protesting against the defamation of minorities and the dissemination of malicious propaganda.

IN the light of the recent Supreme Court ruling, fresh elections to the state assembly is the only solution to the current political imbroglio in the state. Therefore the Maharashtra state committee of the CPI(M) has demanded  dissolution of the assembly and holding immediate elections.The BJP led Shinde-Fadnavis government in the state has neither moral basis nor legal right to continue in office. This long held view of the CPI(M) has been vindicated by the Supreme Court ruling.

During the 1980s and 90s, under the red flag of CPI(M) and Kisan Sabha, poor peasants fought a fierce class struggle to reclaim their lands from feudal lords and exploitative moneylenders in the Panch Pargana of Ranchi district. These struggles marked a historic chapter as the peasants eventually emerged victorious, but 65 peasant activists lost their lives during these battles.
