Huge rally and public meetings were organised in Visakhapatnam on July 10, on completion of 100 days of the relay hunger strike camp run by trade unions and various mass organisations at Gandhi statue near GVMC office.A scooter rally started from the Steel Plant and thousands of workers and people joined it on the way, which culminated at the public meeting.

A VILLAGE in Faridabad, Haryana on the outskirts of Delhi has been in news. Houses here, constructed by workers with great difficulties, are being demolished by bulldozers. What is the issue?In the middle of skyscrapers, flats, hotels and marriage palaces constructed by big business people, nearly 150 acres of land can be called a village or a basti. This basti was developed in the last 30-35 years, and there are around 10,000-12,000 houses. These are all pucca houses.Recently, on June 7, Supreme Court ordered the demolition of the village and ordered the unauthorised houses to be vacated.

Farmers Plan Parliament Marches: Issue People’s Whip to MPs

IN its meeting held at the Singhu border on July 14, 2021, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced detailed plans of its parliament protest marches. From July 22 onwards, on every day of the monsoon session of parliament, batches of 200 farmer volunteers and leaders shall march towards Parliament House in a peaceful manner following the guidelines of discipline laid down by the SKM.

J&K: CPI (M) delegation meets Delimitation Commission

A CPI (M) DELEGATION led by its secretary, Ghulam Nabi Malik on July 6, called on the visiting Delimitation Commission in Srinagar and presented its viewpoint on delimitation exercise in Jammu and Kashmir.The delegation reiterated CPI (M) stand that whatever happened on August 5, 2019, is unacceptable. Along with revocation of the special status of the erstwhile state that day, J&K Reorganisation Act-2019 was also passed under which a historic state was downsized and bifurcated.

Anganwadi Workers Observe Demands Day

THOUSANDS of anganwadi workers and helpers from 21 states came out on streets observing “All India Demands Day’ on July 12, at the call of the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH). The AIFAWH observes Demands Day every year on July 10, but it being the second Saturday this year, therefore was observed on July 12.The workers demanded safety gear, insurance and risk allowance for Covid- 19 duty. They also demanded the government to stop exclusion of beneficiaries and harassment of the workers in the name of digitisation and through ‘Poshan Tracker’ mobile App.

TELANGANA: Left Parties Protest Fuel Price Hike

HUNDREDS of Left party workers took part in a dharna at Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, on June 19, protesting the steep rise in prices of petrol, diesel, gas and other essential goods. Amidst the rising Covid-19 cases in the state and the lockdown restrictions, the protestors came in hundreds indicating the mounting discontent against the government policy.Slogans were raised slamming the Modi government for mounting burdens on the common man. Dharnas were also organised in all district headquarters.

‘Systemic Change Needed for People’s Wellbeing’

The Communist Party of China (CPC) organised an online World Political Parties Summit on July 6, 2021 on the theme ‘People’s Well-Being: Responsibilities of Political Parties’. SKM Calls for Continuous Protests Before Parliament from July 22

THE Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced that during the upcoming parliament session starting from July 19, 2021, it will protest outside parliament. Starting from July 22, every day, five protestors from each organisation associated with SKM will protest outside the Indian parliament. Thus there will be hundreds of protestors every day.  SKM will also write to opposition parties to ensure that they actively take up the demands of the farmers.
