TRIPURA: Remembering Comrade Bijan Dhar

THE Tripura state committee of CPI(M) held a condolence meeting in memory of Comrade Bijan Dhar at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala on October 18, 2021. Polit Bureau members – Prakash Karat, Biman Bose and Manik Sarkar, Central Committee members, Robin Deb from West Bengal, Deben Bhattacharjee from Assam, all Central Committee members from Tripura and leaders of other Left parties attended the meeting. Bijan Dhar’s wife, Ila Dasgupta and daughter Purbasha Dhar were also present on the dais.

Reject CACP Proposal of Payments in Installments

THE All India Sugarcane Farmers Federation(AISFF) has denounced the recommendations of the Commission of Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) that sugar mills may be permitted to pay the Fair Remuneration Price (FRP) announced by the union government to the sugarcane farmers in instalments.The AISFF in a statement issued to the press on October 21 stated that the recommendations aim to safeguard the interests of sugar mills by putting sugarcane farmers to great harm.

MAHA: AIKS State Workshop Vows to Intensify Struggles

THE two-day AIKS Maharashtra state workshop began on October 1, 2021 at the Comrade Narendra Malusare Sankul, CITU Kamgar Bhawan at Nashik. Because of the Covid pandemic, a physical AIKS state workshop was being held for the first time in the last two years. It was attended by 177 leading activists from 22 districts.

Sack the Union Minister-Yechury

SITARAM Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M), whilst placing the decisions of the Polit Bureau meeting in a press conference on October 11, demanded sacking of the union minister Ajay Mishra, and stringent action against his son, Ashish Mishra who is an accused in the killing of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP.

TN: State Level Conference against Privatisation and NMP

TRADE unions in the state conducted a special state conference against privatisation of public sector units.

The initiative for the meeting was taken by the CITU along with BEFI, AIIEA, BSNLEU, Port & Dock Employees Union, Transport Union, Electricity Board Union and Dakshin Railway Employees Union.

Tripura: Comrade Bijan Dhar: Untiring Fighter

CPI(M) CENTRAL Committee member, convener of Tripura Left Front Committee, former state secretary of Party Tripura unit and, an eminent socialist ideologue Comrade Bijan Dharhas breathed his last at the dawn of October 11, 2021, while in treatment in a private hospital in Kolkata. He was 71 years old.
