On Telangana Assembly Elections

THE election results  for Telangana state, have  not only brought Telangana Rashtra Samiti  to power for the second term, but also, the incumbent Party, TRS improved its position considerably by winning 88 seats out of 119 seats of the assembly. The Congress alliance could scrap through with only 21 seats, including two seats for the TDP. TJS and CPI drew a blank. Two independents who won the elections have also joined the TRS, taking the tally of TRS to 90.  The AIMIM could retain all their seven seats.The BJP could win only one single seat out of 119 seats contested.

Jammu and Kashmir: Brutal Civilian Killings in Pulwama

IN a statement issued on December 15 expressing pain and sorrow over the brutal killing of civilians by security forces at Kharpora Sirnoo village of Pulwama district, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said for the BJP, Kashmir is expendable for its narrow electoral interests.This horrible incident which took place on December 15, is a big shock and setback to any effort to restore peace in the valley. The civilian killings have become everyday norm in Kashmir now and it seems New Delhi is least bothered about this.

ANDHRA PRADESH: BJP is Anti-federal, says Kerala Finance Minister

THE ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is anti-federal in practice and in theory and ideology, accused Thomas Isaac, finance minister of Kerala and a member of CPI(M) Central Committee. The Modi government has been systematically destroying the federal structure of India, Isaac said. He addressed a seminar at Vijayawada on December 14, on “BJP rule and centre-state relations” in connection with the 104th birth anniversary of Comrade Makineni Basavapunnaiah, one of the founding leaders of CPI(M).

HIMACHAL PRADESH: State Level Dalit Convention Held at Shimla

A STATE level convention on the issues of the dalits was held at Shimla on December 8, by the Himachal Dalit Shoshan Mukti Sabha (HDSMS). The convention was inaugurated by Subhashini Ali, vice president of the Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch. Rakesh Singha, MLA, Onkar Shad, CPI(M) state secretary and Vikram Singh also spoke in the convention.Subhashini emphasised the importance of the role of the Dalit Sabhas in the Hindi-speaking belt. She said the percentage of literacy amongst dalits is still not at par with the rest of the society.

UTTAR PRADESH: Bulanshahar Violence and Killings
