CPI(M) announces candidates, to continue historic mission

To continue the historic mission in Kerala, the CPI(M) has released its list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections to be held on April 9, CPI(M) State Secretary M V Govindan announced in a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram. The lineup of 81 candidats includes Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who led Kerala for a decade while implementing world renowned welfare and development projects, to Sharaf Ali, former international football player who brought pride to the nation through football. Pinarayi Vijayan is the lone politburo member contesting this elections. 11 ministers, and 54 sitting MLAs are also in the fray. K K Shailaja (former Minister), K N Balagopal (Finance Minster), P Rajeeve (Industries Minister) and T P Ramakrishnan (LDF convener) are the CPI(M) central committee members in this list. The women candidates are K K Shailaja, R Bindu (Higher Education Minister), K Shanthakumari MLA, Daleema Jojo MLA, U Pratibha MLA, Veena George (Health Minister), O S Ambika MLA, P K Shyamala, Adv M B Shiny, Adv Pushpa Das. The other ministers contesting are the following: O R Kelu, P A Mohamed Riyas, V Abdurahiman, M B Rajesh, Dr R Bindu, V N Vasavan, Saji Cherian, Veena George, V. Sivankutty.
DYFI State Secretary V K Sanoj will also contest. P A Muhammad Riyas, V N Vasavan, Saji Cheriyan and K K Jayachandran are State secretariat members contesting. CPI(M) backed independent candidates for Koduvalli, Kondotty, Tirur and Palakkad will be announced later. The candidate for Mahe which falls in Puducherry will be Adv Ashok Kumar.
