Software Engineer Commits Suicide Alleging Sexual Abuse at RSS Camps

A 26-year old software engineer from Kottayam district in Kerala committed suicide publishing a pre-scheduled suicide note and video on Instagram accusing Rashtirya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders of sexually abusing him since his childhood, triggering a huge political controversy in the state. Ananthu Aji, a resident of Vanchimala, in Elikkulam Panchayat near Pala, was found dead in a hotel room near Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway station on October 9.
Ananthu Aji’s suicide note and video revealed that RSS leader NM (later identified as Nidheesh Muralidharan) abused him physically, mentally and sexually since the former was 4-5 years old and continued the torture during various RSS camps. Thampanoor police have registered a case regarding this unnatural death on the basis of his seven-page suicide note, which he described as his dying declaration. It surfaced few hours after his death and later, it was found that the note was drafted on September 8, revised thrice and scheduled to be published after his death.
Ananthu Aji revealed that he had been undergoing acute mental pressure and depression. He stated that the trauma from the alleged abuse contributed to his severe depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), for which he was on medication.
“I am having no issues with anyone except for one person in RSS. I had received a threat to my life because of this organisation and that person (NM)” Ananthu wrote. He referred to NM, who was considered as a relative by the family, as the first perpetrator of sexual abuse.
“At the RSS camp also, I was sexually abused. Never make any friends with anyone who is part of RSS. RSS is the one who walks with such poison. The real abusers.” he said in the statement. “I don’t remember the name of (other) abusers. But in their ITC and OTC camps, I was sexually abused. Not only sexual abuse but also physical abuse has been committed. They abused many in their camps. At their camps, abuse is widespread. Many may not believe me because I have no proof,” he added. He cautioned that everyone should keep aloof from RSS men and not be part of that organisation. Many people have the same experience, he said.
DYFI has filed written complaints and called for a probe, alleging the incident exposed the "inhuman face of the RSS".
