Maha: Solidarity with Palestine
DESPITE heavy rains and disruption of traffic in South Mumbai due to the Maratha Reservation Morcha, the public hall meeting on August 30, 2025, at Y B Chavan centre against genocide in Palestine and in solidarity with Palestinian Struggle was well attended.
It was addressed by ambassador of Palestine in India, Abdullah Abu Shahwesh, and by leaders from political parties.
Arif Naseem Khan and Hussain Dalwai from Congress, Naseem Siddiqui from NCP(SP), S K Rege from CPI(M), Prakash Reddy from CPI, Ajit Patil from CPI(ML) Liberation spoke on behalf of the political parties.
In addition, Feroze Mithibhorwala from IPSF, documentary film maker Anand Patwardhan and actress Swara Bhaskar also spoke in this meeting.
On August 31, 2025 a delegation from CPI(M) comprising SK Rege, Vivek Monteiro, Shailendra Kamble , Adv. Armaity Irani and Preethy Sekhar met the Palestinian ambassador at Hotel West End for discussions.
The discussion mainly focussed on 3 points: i) understanding of the two state solution and building an international and national consensus on the two state solution; ii) ways to build public support and alternate media for promoting Indo Palestine solidarity and iii) ways to reach relief materials collected by Left and progressive parties and organisations to needy Palestinians in absence of any State support.
