Gujarat: CPI(M) Pays Homage to Victims of Plane Crash in Ahmedabad

A DELEGATION of the CPI(M) Gujarat state committee, comprising  H I Bhatt, Arun Mehta, Dahyabhai Gajera, Satish Parmar, and Prakash Mecwan, visited Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad on June 14, 2025, to meet students and other citizens injured in the Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025.

The hospital premises were under strict security cover, and entry to meet the injured was restricted without prior approval from the Police Commissioner. At the same time, a central-level delegation of the Congress Party, including Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge, also visited the hospital.

Due to heightened security and the absence of prior permission, the CPI(M) delegation was unable to meet the injured students directly, but they managed to speak with some of their relatives and conveyed their concern and solidarity regarding the tragic incident. The delegation also spoke to several members of the TV media present at the hospital and expressed their views on the unfortunate accident.

On June 15, 2025, members of the Party state committee assembled at the Shaheed Smarak, Lal Darwaja, Ahmedabad, where a candlelight programme was held to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the crash.
