TN: Madurai Gears Up to Host 24th Congress of CPI(M)

S P Rajendran

THE 24th Party Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is set to take place with great enthusiasm in Madurai from April 2 to 6. The historic city of Madurai is adorned with red flags and festive decorations, eagerly awaiting this landmark congress, which stands as the voice of the working class and a steadfast ally of the labouring masses.

This historically significant congress will be held at Tamukkam Ground, the heart of revolutionary Madurai. It was on this very ground that the 3rd Congress of the united Communist Party of India was held in 1953, followed by the 9th Party Congress of the CPI(M) in 1972. With the 24th Party Congress now taking place, Madurai proudly becomes the only city in India to host the CPI(M) Party Congress three times – a distinction unmatched anywhere else in the country! As red flags wave along every street and posters highlighting the struggles of the working class shine brightly, the entire city is transforming into a fortress of the proletariat!

Party cadre from Madurai city and suburban districts, along with passionate activists from neighbouring regions, are eagerly preparing to welcome over 800 delegates arriving from across the country. In their eyes burns the fire of revolution, and in their hearts beats an unwavering dedication to the people!

A massive reception committee of over a thousand comrades has been formed for this congress and is working tirelessly to ensure its success. Meticulous preparations are being made. More than twenty sub-committees have been formed to oversee arrangements for accommodation, food, transportation, and other necessities for each delegate. Every detail has been carefully and thoughtfully planned to ensure the successful holding of the congress.

The public meeting on April 6, marking the conclusion of the congress, promises to be spectacular! Over 25,000 Red Volunteer Force will unite, carrying red flags, chanting revolutionary slogans, and transforming the streets of Madurai into a vibrant sea of red. The city will reverberate with the energy and spirit of the working class in an unforgettable display of solidarity.

Following the parade, a massive rally and public meeting will be held, attended by hundreds of thousands of common people. Party leaders, including Prakash Karat, Pinarayi Vijayan, and others, will address the gathering.

REMARKABLE

FEATURES

The most remarkable aspect of this congress is that it is being organised with the people, by the people, and for the people. All district committees of the Party are collecting contributions, amounting to several lakhs of rupees, from ordinary working-class families and middle-class citizens. These contributions, big and small, reflect the deep connection between the Party and the masses.

The sight of comrades, from Party leaders to branch secretaries, going door-to-door with collection boxes, carrying the flame of hope in their hearts, is truly inspiring. The supportive hands of the people form the foundation of this congress, showcasing their unwavering trust in the Party.

Through initiatives like the ‘Family Hundi’, every Party member’s family has become a small but vital part of the preparations. From children to elders, everyone contributes whatever they can, finding joy in being part of this collective effort to work for a future of hope and change.

In today’s political climate, the BJP-led union government poses a grave threat to federalism and state autonomy. It is undermining parliamentary democracy, targeting minority communities, and freezing assets of minority institutions, including the Waqf Board. Across the country, neo-fascist tendencies are intensifying, creating an atmosphere of fear and division.

In this challenging environment, the 24th Party Congress of the CPI(M) emerges as a resolute voice for people’s rights, democracy, and the fight against neo-fascism. It stands as a beacon of hope, uniting people and inspiring them to resist oppression.

SEMINARS: SPARKING

REVOLUTIONARY THOUGHT
To mark the 24th Congress, 24 special seminars have been organised, each aimed at sowing revolutionary ideas and presenting solutions for the future. These seminars serve as sparks, igniting the minds of the people with hope and determination.

The Party’s voice, Theekkathir Daily, has been diligently covering congress news, ideological perspectives, historical documents of the Communist Party, and compilations of the previous 23 congresses for the past two months. This effort to arm people with the weapons of knowledge is progressing intensively.

Across Tamil Nadu, comrades of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have been working day and night for the past two months to ensure the success of this congress. What drives them is an unwavering dream – the dream of creating an equal and just society.

Madurai welcomes you with open arms and revolutionary fervour! The great tide of revolution is about to rise in Madurai! Let the red flags fly high! Let the voice of the people roar! Long live the revolution!
