THE Jharkhand state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to field its candidate for only one Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand. The Party's all-India election strategy aims to defeat the BJP and its allies and ensure the formation of a secular government at the centre. Keeping this in mind and considering the political situation of the state, CPI(M) has decided to contest elections on only one seat.
Preparations for the Party's election campaign on Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat have been going on for a long time. The Party also has its own support base in this area and for the last two years, the Party is continuously in movement on the burning public issues here.
However, this seat has been won by a major component of the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand for the last two times. But due to the inaction of the MP who won from here and his indifference towards the burning problems of this Lok Sabha constituency, there is huge anger among the voters. In Santal Pargana, the common voters are very angry with the mysterious silence of the MP against the corporate houses grabbing the land of the tribals and other poor people to plunder the minerals available here and also against the increasing pollution arising from private mining in this area and their own candidate is being vocally opposed by many of its party leaders including party MLAs. Common voters’ perception is also negative about him.
In this background, CPI(M) is the only political party in Rajmahal Lok Sabha constituency which is completely capable of defeating the hate-monger BJP. The issue of seat sharing among political parties involved in the INDIA Alliance was left from the very beginning to be decided at the state level. Accordingly, seat sharing has happened only partially among the political parties included in the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand. The ruling parties of the alliance did not even discuss about seat sharing with the country's main Left party, CPI (M). The indifference of the ruling parties of the alliance towards the Left parties in Jharkhand and lack of political dialogue with them is the weakness of the leadership of the alliance, for which the Left parties are not responsible.
However, CPI (M) has a clear understanding that the election for the 18th Lok Sabha is very important because the outcome of this election will decide the direction of the country's politics which is at the crossroads. The secular character of our constitution, democracy and the federal structure of the country are all at stake in this election. The party which is in power at the centre for the last ten years has left no stone unturned in dividing the people and weakening the democratic institutions of our country as well as looting the country's national wealth. Therefore, it is the main duty of all patriotic citizens to defeat BJP and its allies in this election. CPI (M) has entered the election field to achieve this goal. The Party is supporting the candidates of the INDIA Alliance on other 13 parliamentary seats who are not from the BJP.
