Farmers and tribals under the banner of CPI(M), take part in an indefinite sit-in agitation in front of the Nashik district collectorate. They gave a three-day ultimatum to the state government to meet their demands, failing which they would intensify their agitation from March 2.

Over 25,000 farmers and tribals from 15 talukas of Nashik district continued to sit-in for the fourth day on February 29.

The major demands of the tribals and farmers include giving ownership of forest land to tribal farmers who have been tilling the land for the last many years, introduction of minimum support price of Rs 2,000 per quintal for onions, among others.
