Kerala Governor’s Anti-Constitutional Remarks
CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on October 17
THE Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammad Khan, has been acting in a manner which does not behove the constitutional post that he holds.
The latest is a tweet from the official handle of the Kerala governor wherein the public relations officer of the Kerala Raj Bhavan has quoted the governor as saying that if statements of individual ministers lower the dignity of the office of the governor, then it can invite action including “withdrawal of pleasure”.
This amounts to saying that the governor can dismiss a minister by withdrawing his pleasure. Such dictatorial powers are not vested with the governor by the constitution. By making such a statement, Khan has only exposed his political bias and hostility to the LDF government.
The president of India should intervene to prevent the Kerala governor from making such anti-constitutional and anti-democratic statements.
