Kerala: Attempt to Attack Chief Minister in Aeroplane Foiled

N S Sajith

CO PASSENGERS travelling in a flight along with Pinarayii Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala,  foiled the attempt of two youth Congress leaders who tried to manhandle him. The two youth Congress leaders were taken into custody after they were captured by the CISF personnel as the plane landed in Trivandrum. This attempt to manhandle the chief minister took place on June 13 on an Indigo flight from Kannur to Trivandrum at 3.30 pm. LDF convenor, E P Jayarajan, who was also travelling in the same flight strongly resisted the youth Congress leaders from manhandling the chief minister.

The opposition Congress along with BJP has been organising violent protests across the state for one week over the statement of Swapna Suresh, an infamous gold smuggling case accused, and former staff of the UAE consulate. Swapna, now on bail, in this case, has alleged that gold was sent to the chief minister's office from UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram. She is now working in an NGO controlled by RSS and has fabricated this story that gold was sent in biriyani vessels. Right since the beginning, she has been denying the role of the chief minister on different occasions. It is only when she got out on bail and later joined RSS NGO, now, that she is making such baseless allegations.

After these fabricated statements UDF and NDA   demanded the resignation of the chief minister. They have been raising black flags at the functions that the chief minister is attending functions. Even mainstream media is encouraging these violent protests of UDF and NDA.

The intoxicated protesters boarded the flight wearing black shirts. After landing in Thiruvananthapuram they started shouting slogans against the chief minister.

Reacting to this incident, CPI(M) state secretary, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan strongly criticised the role of the opposition and BJP who have connived together. He said the people will protect the chief minister, and Pinarayi will remain as chief minister until the people extend their unflinching support.

Some people are hatching a conspiracy to organise riots in the state to create law and order problems, he said.
