LDF VICTORY IN KERALA: Congratulations from Communist & Workers Parties

We have received congratulatory messages from various Communist and Worker’s Parties hailing the victory of the CPI(M) led LDF in the recently concluded assembly elections in Kerala. Below are the summarised extracts from some of those statements.

IN a message sent on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chen Zhou, vice minister of the international department, extended heartfelt congratulations to the CPI(M) on retaining power in Kerala. The message lauded the outstanding governance achievements in Kerala and also the positive role played by the CPI(M). The CPC expressed its readiness to do whatever they can to support and help the anti-epidemic efforts in the country. They also hoped that the country and Kerala would prevail over the pandemic and attain further development.

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in its message stated that it was delighted to learn about the victory of the LDF in Kerala, particularly noting the fact that it was the first government in the last forty years to be voted back to power. “This historic victory is the fruit of the ceaseless efforts, dedication, commitment and efficient governance by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the state over the past five years and especially during the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic”. This is due to the ‘high level of trust, faith and responsibility’ bestowed by the people of Kerala on the Party, it noted. It hoped that the Party would lead the government in the path of sustainable development and greater prosperity. The statement also noted the Party winning two assembly seats in Tamilnadu.

The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) congratulated the LDF and the CPI(M) for their outstanding election victory in Kerala. In its statement, the CPP noted that this victory was possible due to the hard work done by the CPI(M) led government and its pro-people policies. It expressed hope that the LDF would continue to work for the interests of the people in the state.

Bimal Ratnayake, head of the international department of the Janatha Vimukhti Peramuna (JVP), Sri Lanka, congratulated the Party and the LDF for its victory. The statement noted with particular appreciation the leadership provided to the government by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and also the contributions of the Health Minister K K Shailaja in combating the pandemic. It is these kind of measures that won the trust of the people and got it re-elected, the statement noted. This victory is a boost to all of us, it concluded.

Wulf Gallert, member of the executive board of the Die Linke, Germany, in a message sent on behalf of their Party warmly congratulated the CPI(M) and the LDF. The message noted that this victory was possible due to the correct Left strategy of involving people in decision making and in the implementation of policies. Taking people along, together with good governance and stable solutions offered to the various problems, particularly during this pandemic also contributed to the victory, the message noted.

Gavin Mendel-Gleason, director of the international affairs of the Workers’ Party of Ireland (WPI) and general secretary of the Communist Party (Italy) Marco Rizzo also sent congratulatory messages on the historic victory and the decisive contribution of the CPI(M).
