Comrade S P Kashyap

THE CPI(M) expresses its sorrow at the passing away of Comrade SP Kashyap due to Covid complications. He was a member of the state secretariat of the CPI(M), Uttar Pradesh and had earlier been the state secretary of the Party for several years. He was also a former member of the Central Committee of the CPI(M). Comrade Kashyap became a whole-timer of the party after his retirement from teaching.

Comrade Kashyap was greatly respected as a Marxist intellectual and he was much sought after by all those who organised Hindi Party classes in different states and at the center. He was tireless and extremely conscientious in preparing and delivering lectures on a wide range of subjects ranging from Indian philosophy to Marxism. He also wrote a number of booklets. His absence will be greatly felt in this important field of Party education. Comrade S P Kashyap lived the life of an exemplary communist. The Party expresses its deep condolences to his siblings and their family members.

In a message sent to the Uttar Pradesh state committee of CPI(M), Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the Party paid his condolences and said, “ I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Comrade S P Kashyap.” He said Comrade Kashyap was an erudite Marxist scholar and would take Party classes in simple language which was easily understandable to the cadres.
