Jharkhand: Mass Fast Observed on Gandhiji's Martyrdom Day

ON the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi,  January 30, AIKS and CITU organised one-day 'upwas' (Fast) in support of farmers' agitation in front of Gandhiji's statue in Ranchi.

In the state capital, activists of AIKS and CITU along with mass organisations and with other social activists took out rally with raising different slogans like 'bapu amar rahe( long live Mahatma Gandhi), inquilab zindabad, bapu hum sharminda hai tere qatil zinda hai( Gandhi, we are ashamed that your murderers are still alive), teeno krishi kanoon wapas lo (take back the three farm laws) etc. After the culmination, the activists gathered in front of the statue and kept two minutes of silence for Mahatma Gandhi. More than 100 activists participated in this programme. Activists of CPI(M), CPI and RJD were also present in large numbers.

Prakash Viplav, state general secretary of CITU, state general secretary of Jharkhand Rajya Kisan Sabha(AIKS)  Surjeet Sinha,  Prafull Linda of AAM(Adivasi Adhikar Manch), Bina Linda of AIDWA,  Ajay Singh of AIYF,  Janardan Prasad, state secretary of CPI(ML), Abhay Singh, state president, RJD, Dayamani Barla(social activist), Vinod Kumar( journalist), Meghnath(filmmaker) and Kumar Varun shared their views.
      

The programme ended with a proposal to boycott the Ambani-Adani goods. Similar programmes were also organised in different districts of Jharkhand in  Bokaro, Jamtara, Koderma, Dhanbad,  Jamshedpur, Sahebganj, Pakur, Hazaribagh, Giridih and Dumka. More than a total of 1,500 activists of different mass organisations participated in this one-day 'upwas' in Jharkhand.
