Indefinite Protest Demos till December 31 Launched

HAILING  the historic struggle being waged by lakhs of farmers in the freezing cold of Delhi, U Basavaraj-general secretary of KPRS (AIKS state unit) criticised Modi government for being adamant about conceding farmers demand and trying dirty tricks for breaking unity of the movement. He was speaking after inaugurating the indefinite sate level protest demonstrations on December 16 at Maurya Circle at Bangalore , which will continue till December 31.  The indefinite protest  was inaugurated by beating of drums by farmers’ leaders.

The protests are being organised by AIKSCC state unit and  in support of farmers struggle being waged in Delhi for repeal of three anti-farmer Agri-Laws and Electricity Amendment Bill brought by the central government. The protest is also for the repeal of anti-farmer amendments to Land Reforms Act, APMC Act and Cow Slaughter Bill brought by state BJP government.  Hundreds of farmers belonging to many farmers' organisation joined today’s protest.

Apart from KPRS leader U Basavaraj, others who spoke at the protest include: Nityananda Swamy, president, AIAWU Karnataka, Kodihally Chandrashekhar-KRRS, Badagalapura Nagendra-KRRS-Hasiru Sene, Kurubur Shanthakumar-Sugarcane Farmers Organisation, Prakash Kamareddi-ex Agriculture Prices Commision Head and currently of Eikya Raita-Karmaika-Dalita Horata.  Members and leaders of trade unions, dalit, Left student-youth and womens' movements also participated in these protests. CITU general secretary, Meenakshisundaram, JCTU leaders, L Kalappa, Gowramma-secretary JMS, Kumar Samatala-secretary Karnataka Janashakthi participated in the protest.

In view of the gram panchayat election process in progress and ongoing Covid pandemic the co-ordination of daily protest will be done by one of the organisations spearheading the protests.
