AP: Engels Bicentenary Observed in Andhra Pradesh

FREDERICK Engels’ bicentenary was observed throughout Andhra Pradesh. The district and local units of CPI(M) and the leaders of Left parties paid tributes at the statue of Marx and Engels at Vijayawada. V Srinivasa Rao, Central Committee Member of CPI(M) explained about the relevance of the literature and the work of Marx and Engels for the emancipation of the proletariat. He narrated about the friendship of Marx and Engels and said that their efforts are inseparable and the literature has to be taken to the people in a big way.

K Ramakrishna, state secretary of CPI said that the success of ‘general strike’ and ‘rural bandh’ on November 26-27, indicates that the toiling people will join in huge numbers in the ensuing struggles. B Zamindar of Progressive Forum presided over the meeting while Y Venkateswara Rao, CPI(M) state secretariat member welcomed the gathering. P Prasad of CPI(ML- New democracy), K Lakshminarayana, P Subbaraju, Ch Baburao, D Subba Rao and others participated. S Punyavati, Central Committee member of CPI(M) lauded the relentless efforts of Engels at a meeting held at Anantapuram.

A webinar on ‘Role of Engels in the development of Marxism’ was organised in connection with the bicentenary of Engels jointly by CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state committees. P Madhu, CPI(M) AP state secretary presided over and B Venkat, Party Telangana state secretariat member welcomed the audience. B V Raghavulu, Polit Bureau Member of CPI(M) said that the revolutionary theory and practice should go together and that was what Marx and Engels did throughout their lives. They studied about the society and its progression scientifically and proposed a theory, said Raghavulu. They put it in practice and enriched it from the experience. The relevance of Marx, Engels works' has increased in these days of capitalist crisis, said Raghavulu. CPI(M) Telangana state secretary, Tammineni Veerabhadram released a book published by Navatelangana publishers while Y Venkateswararao, Mantena Seetaram and S Venkatarao released another book published by Prajasakti book house in this connection.
