Prajasakti, the Real Voice of People

‘PRAJASAKTI is the real voice of the people’, lauded the speakers at the inauguration of its new building at Tadepalli, in the capital region on November 6. Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh switched on the computer button from his camp office and virtually inaugurated the building. He said that Prajasakti has been run and guided by persons committed to the service of common people and so it is committed to values in journalism. He extended good wishes to the paper, staff and to the leadership on this occasion. Minister for energy, Balineni Srinivasa reddy, advisor to the government, Sajjala Ramakrishna reddy, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B V Raghavulu, Party state secretary P Madhu, MLC Lakshmana Rao, chairman of Prajasakti Sahitee Sanstha V Krishnaiah, Prajasakti editor MVS Sarma, G Sivarama Krishna, edition manager and others were also present. Some state leaders of CPI(M), leading team of Prajasakti were also present at the plaque in the new building.

Immediately after that, a meeting was organised at the new building, presided over by MVS Sarma. He narrated the long revolutionary journey of Prajasakti right from 1942 till date, explaining the initial stages to the modern publication passing through repression from ruling classes. B V Raghavulu said that Prajasakti has been a paper of the people which was relentlessly thriving for the well being of them. It never works for profit like many other news papers. That is why many progressive people extend their help and assistance to Prajasakti. He lauded the rich heritage of Prajasakti and urged the leading team to further enrich the legacy by standing firm for the interests of common people. P Madhu, congratulated the Prajasakti team and the people involved in completing the construction of the building in difficult times. He expressed hope that the paper will step further in shaping the people’s opinion against the neoliberal policies and combating the communal danger.

V Srinivasa rao, former editor said that Prajasakti is the Telugu newspaper which faced serious repression from the days of national movement, Emergency and came out successfully from disruptions. He explained the ups and downs in the journey of the journal. V Krishnaiah, explained about the difficulties faced in running the paper and also how the team could get through with the unstinted support of the well wishers and the staff. S Veeraiah, editor, Nava Telangana extended his greetings. Former editors Telakapalli Ravi, S Vinaya Kumar, former executive editor S Venkata Rao spoke on this occasion. Architect and construction engineer, V Srinivasa Rao explained about the details of the G+4 building. Chief general manager, Y Achyut Rao organised the meeting while the deputy editor, B Tulasidas welcomed the gathering and general manger Hari Kishore proposed vote of thanks.
