THE policies pursued by the BJP central government are very much harmful to the interests of Andhra Pradesh, said B V Raghavulu, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member while inaugurating the political campaign at Vijayawada on November 7. CPI(M) AP committee has taken up a political campaign throughout the state from November 7-15, explaining the people about the policies of BJP central government that have been inimical to the state’s interests and that are pauperising the people of India. Hunger and unemployment increased manifold and communal hatred has been spread like anything under Modi’s rule, said Raghavulu.
The Modi government has failed miserably in mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic and people lost their employment and livelihoods, said Raghavulu. The prices of essential commodities are sky rocketing while the incomes of people have been going down. In contrast, the assets of Adani, Ambanis are going up manifold, he explained. Special category status, Kadapa steel plant, Railway zone to Visakhapatnam, Dugarajapatnam port and other assurances given to the newly constituted state were simply rejected or neglected by the BJP central government. For the Polavaram, which was announced as a national project in the State Reorganisation Act, the Modi government is curtailing funds for relief and rehabilitation of people under submergence, mostly tribes.
Likewise, in every aspect, the central government has been betraying the interests of AP. But the ruling YSRCP and the main opposition TDP have been trying to be with the BJP and are deceiving the people, Raghavulu criticised. These two parties act as rivals in the state but follow as one behind the BJP at the centre. He narrated the stand of these parties in supporting the three farm bills, labour law amendments, Electricity Act amendment etc. He demanded the YSRCP and TDP to explain the people why they have been supporting the harmful policies of the BJP. Taking this as an advantage, BJP and the Sangh Parivar have been trying to penetrate in the state through communal hatred. Raghavulu cautioned the people about the danger of the BJP and also appealed them to question the YSRCP and TDP leaders to explain the rationale behind their stand towards the Modi government.
Party activists assembled at Lenin Centre first and paid floral tributes to the statue of Lenin and commemorated the Great October Revolution. From there, they went to the Dharna chowk shouting slogans. The meeting at Dharna chowk was presided over by Donepudi Kasinath, Krishna (west) district secretariat member. Party state secretariat members Ch Babu Rao, V Umamaheswara Rao, M Krishna Murthy, state committee members D V Krishna, Sridevi and others spoke on the occasion. Political campaign has been going on all over the state with rallies, street corner meetings and door-to-door campaign. Party state committee has urged all the units to take up the campaign in their respective residential areas.
