DELHI: Left Parties Appeal on Current Prevailing Situation

AN urgent meeting of the Left parties of Delhi state was held on February 25, to take note of violence and rioting in North-East Delhi yesterday. It took a serious objection to the fact that BJP leader Kapil Mishra on February 23 at Babarpur threatened the anti-CAA, NRC, NPR protesters as an extra judicial authority in the presence of a senior police officer. In fact, he should be held responsible for the rioting. He should be arrested immediately, and also be booked under stringent acts.

The Left parties – CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML)-Liberation, AIFB, RSP and CGPI –
are of the view that all those who are involved in rioting in North East Delhi should be dealt with. We also demand that action should be taken against the police officials who are clearly seen in videos, not behaving as per the SOP of the police. We condemn all acts of communalisation of situation.

We have been informed that miscreants and some communal organisations are mobilising from the Loni area of Western Uttar Pradesh to further escalate the situation. We demand that immediate steps be taken to check this situation.

We appeal to all Left parties, cadres and supporters to immediately intervene in the areas and hold peace marches, so that normalcy can prevail. We appeal to the people of Delhi to not fall prey to the rumours and help restore peace in Delhi.
