Book release, Sales and Reading Programmes throughout the Telugu States in 400 Centres
61,000 Sold Out in One Day in AP and Telangana

ONE lakh copies of Communist Manifesto were published in Telugu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Left parties leaders and cadres mobiliSed people in a big way and observed the Red Books Day enthusiastically on February 21. Five Left publications Prajasakti, Nava Telangana, Visalandhra, Nava Chetana and Peacock Classics jointly published one lakh copies of the Manifesto in Telugu. The book includes ‘Communist Principles’  also. This book of 96 pages priced at Rs 20 was sold at Rs 10 only. Book release functions, seminars, meetings and book reading congregations were conducted in about 400 centres throughout the Telugu states. The cadres sold 61,000 copies in a single day. With the overwhelming response, the publishers are in a view to go for a reprint.
D Raja, general secretary of Communist Party of India formally released the book in Vijayawada at a meeting in a park which houses Karl Marx and Engels statues. He said that the Communist Manifesto is a great weapon in the hands of toiling masses and it showed the way for their emancipation from class exploitation.  CPI(M) state secretary P Madhu, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna and leaders of Left parties P Prasad, Madhu, Mohan, Sundara rama raju spoke on the occasion. MVS Sarma, editor Prajasakti presided over the meeting.  Editor Visalandhra publications G Koteswararao briefly introduced the book and K Lakshmaiah, general manager of Prajasakti Book house expressed vote of thanks. The book was sold out like a hot cake among the people. 5000 copies were sold in Anantapuram district alone. East Krishna, East Godavari, Prakasam, East Guntur committees of CPI(M) cadres also sold enthusiastically thousands of copies.
