Karnataka: Threat letter to Brinda Karat

A DELEGATION of the CPI(M) led by Nityananda Swamy, member of the state secretariat of the Party met the director general of police in Bengaluru on January 29 and lodged a complaint demanding action against the culprits who have issued death threat to Brinda Karat PB member of CPI(M) and 14 others, that includes prominent film personality Prakash Raj.

An anonymous undated letter was addressed to Nijagunanda Swamy threatening to kill him and others that includes Brinda Karat.

Nityanada Swamy in the police complaint had mentioned that there are countrywide mass movements going on against CAA, NPR and NRC, which are being led by the party and Brinda Karat is an important leader of this movement. He has mentioned that all those whose names have been mentioned in the letter are active participants of anti-NRC movement in the state.

Swamy has asked to police to take the matter seriously and ensure that the persons involved in the letter are identified and dealt according to law. Adequate security must also be provided to Brinda Karat while she is travelling in Karnataka.
